Sir Mix-A-Whole-Lot

"Baby Got Back" Sir Mix A Lot

Picture this : A child no older than 9 years old, walking up to her sister and saying "OH MY GOD BECKY, LOOK AT HER BUTT, IT IS SOOOOO BIG".... this child was me.

Yes, at 9 years old I knew all lyrics to this song, and the video makes me laugh to this day. I was living in West Palm Beach, Florida, and my sister Melissa taught me the lyrics and I caught on a little too quickly. There we were, dancing around in our mathcing jean and orange polka-dotted daisy dukes singing about liking big butts.

Little did my sisters know, that same song would serve as a wonderful memory ten years later. On May 15, 2004, while at my wedding reception, I secretly made a song request to our DJ. Our DJ asked that me and my 7 sisters walk out to the middle of the dance floor, he had a suprise request. We all scrambled to the middle of the dance floor and waited. The DJ yelled "This is for allll the crazy sisters, requested by the bride". Seconds later everyone got quiet....and when the song started, my sisters and I went crazy! We danced the entire song and we laughed and laughed. Good times

Heal The World.

As an 8 year old child in Okeechobee, Florida, I remember living in a two bedroom trailer with my mom and four other siblings. We were quite poor, and only had a radio and our imaginations to keep us busy. I remember turning on the radio and hearing "Heal The World" by Michael Jackson several times a day. My siblings and I loved the song then, and we love it to this day. As an adult, I've learned to appreciate the lyrics, and up until now, I didnt realize how appropriate the song was for the circumstances at the time. RIP Michael Jackson

Released in 1991 from the Dangerous album

The First Song.

"Forever and Ever, Amen" by Randy Travis.

I was two years old when this song came out on the radio! (I had no idea until I searched the internet for information on the song that it came out in 1987!) I remember bouncing around the house as a little girl singing "Forever and evvveeerrrr" and thinking Randy Travis was amazing...which he obviously is ♥ If memory serves me right, the person who first introduced me to any type of music was my grandmother. I remember dancing with her when I was itty bitty, dancing to Randy Travis and Reba McIntire songs (back when Reba's hair was super big... ha!.
